Employees who never seem happy with your health and wellness initiatives can be frustrating. You’ve organised activities, team-building events, yoga classes, or staff lunches – maybe even all of the above. And yet, employees still seem dissatisfied.
Some of the things you might have observed are:
🔴 Disengaged – they attend, but there’s no enthusiasm.
🔴 Eye-rolling, distracted and distracting others, or simply not showing up.
🔴 Staff surveys or feedback forms keep asking for something new.
While these behaviours can be frustrating, they often stem from deeper reasons. What’s Really Going On?
On the surface, it might seem like these employees are ungrateful or uninterested, or even that they don’t know what they want. And this could be exactly what's happening.
However, beneath these behaviours, there’s often more at play:
🌿 Overwhelm/Stress: Employees under high stress may struggle to “switch off” and enjoy wellness activities, even if they asked for them.
🌿 Lack of Trust: Sometimes, employees feel wellness initiatives are just ticking a box, rather than being genuine care from leadership.
🌿 Personal Barriers: Limiting beliefs, low self-worth, or personal challenges can stop people from engaging in group activities.
🌿 Lack of Self-Awareness: Some employees might not even know what they need or want in life and at work – they are impossible to satisfy.
🌿 Clashing Motivators: The activities offered might not align with what drives them at work (and they might not know what these are, either).
All of those deeper reasons will trigger resistance, lack of focus and disengagement.
Wellness coaching addresses the root causes of disengagement by helping employees uncover their true needs and motivators. It supports them in challenging limiting beliefs, voicing their needs, and reducing stress.
Through coaching, employees can design a healthier lifestyle that boosts their energy and focus, improving both their work and personal lives.
Here is how we do it:
🎯 Identifying Personal Drivers
Employees discover their main motivators at work and learn how to meet them – even beyond scheduled activities.
🎯 Uncovering Barriers
Coaching helps employees understand and work through personal challenges or limiting beliefs that might hold them back.
🎯 Stress Management
By finding the right tools to manage stress, employees can think clearly, regulate emotions, and engage better.
Why This Matters
When employees are healthy, self-aware, and less stressed, they’re more likely to participate in group activities, find joy in their work, and contribute to a happier workplace culture.
What Can You Do?
Do you recognise this challenge in your workplace?
Have you noticed employees resisting initiatives, even when you’ve asked for their input?
Coaching can bridge the gap between the surface problem and its root cause, unlocking solutions that create lasting change.
Let us know how we can help your team be happier and more engaged at work.
