For a long time, I thought balance was something my employer owed me.
I was working hard, showing up, doing the right things—but still feeling tired, stretched, invisible and undervalued. So I did what a lot of people do:
🗣 I blamed the system.
🧾 I joined the protests.
🧍♀️ I whinged with colleagues over coffee about how things should be.
And to be fair, the system wasn’t perfect. But here’s what I didn’t realise back then:
I wasn’t looking after myself either.
The Turning Point
I wanted a four-day workweek. I wanted better pay. I wanted more recognition. But in truth?
I wasn’t sleeping well.
My mornings were rushed.
I showed up to work hungover more times than I want to admit.
I was mentally exhausted and physically depleted.
I kept waiting for someone else to come fix it.
But no one was coming. And honestly, no one could.
What Changed Everything
That’s when I started working with a coach.
And wow. That mirror was uncomfortable—but so necessary.
We started with the basics:
✅ Building better routines
✅ Learning how to rest and recover
✅ Identifying where I was leaking energy
✅ Finding alignment between what I did and what I valued
I stopped treating work and life as two separate things, constantly fighting for attention. I started to see the whole picture.
Balance wasn’t about doing less.
It was about doing what mattered—with clarity and intention.
1. Routines > Resentment
I resented my job, but I had no structure to support myself. Creating a healthy, reliable routine changed everything—from my mornings to my mindset.
2. Self-Leadership Is Non-Negotiable
Waiting for someone else to change the system only kept me stuck. When I took ownership of my health, habits, and energy—my experience changed, even before the environment did.
3. Work Is Just One Slice of the Pie
Your job is part of your life—not separate from it. Your health, joy, rest, finances, relationships... they all matter. And they all need space.
If this resonates, you're not alone. Many of my clients arrive in that same stuck place—waiting for someone else to make it better. My role is to help them stop waiting and start creating.
